This beginning of a new chapter

Hello my name is Liliana Mejia i am 17 years old and a junior in high school and so it embarks a new chapter in this Aice Media class. I am extremely nervous yet excited about this project and i am ready to overcome any obstacles that come our way throughout this entire journey. In this blog i will take you along the journey where you will get the inside scoop, all about my thought process, all about the obstacles i am going to encounter, all about the new information I'm going to be learning about throughout this entire project, and much much more! I knew film opening was going to be my route over magazine because i've always enjoyed expressing myself through film. Since i was a little girl, my dad always caught me using his camera to make what i liked to call "mini movies." I am extremely excited for what this film opening project is going to offer and all the new information i am going to be able take away from it.
Anyways let's just jump right into the research.

The very first step: picking the genre.
From the very beginning me and my group members knew we wanted to do something along the lines of a thriller or a horror film. The very first thing we decided to do was to look up a statistic for most popular movie genres to decide between horror and thriller. I found a website where it displayed the most popular movie genres based on box office revenue. From the statistic which you can see below, thriller surpassed horror films by quite a few.

We talked amongst ourselves and also asked for a few opinions of our classmates and decided on making the film a psychological thriller. I knew the very next step was to actually search up the definition of a psychological thriller where it stated "A psychological thriller story is meant to emphasize the unstable psychological states of it's characters. After researching the definition i wanted a little more in depth detail about what a psychological thriller film consisted of. I went along and decided to research components of a psychological thriller, so i was ready and knew what i was getting myself into. I came across this incredible website titled 5 Tips for Creating a Believable and Captivating Psychological Thriller. This website was able to offer great tips about making the character seem real, it explains how a person with a mental illness is not a superhero they are people like us, it can be someone you are married to and someone who is your next door neighbor. Another tip the website suggested was giving your characters flaws, incorporating a plot twist, and primary goal should be able to give your auidence goosebumps. Since we only have 2 minutes it is going to be difficult to incorporate all of this into the film opening but I know my group members and i will try out very best! Next task what is our psychological thriller actually going to be about?

Until next time!
