Filming Day 1

Everyone woke up  bright and early at 9 am on Friday March 24th, and we were all ready to start filming. The guy we decided to use to as the main character was a 20 year old studying at FIU, who had previously taken drama as an elective. I knew he was the perfect choice considering how important it was of the character to have good acting skills, since we were revolving the entire film around one character and using movement of individuals technique. We arrived at Southwest Ranches horseback Riding Ranch and filming commenced.

We started off by getting an establishing shot of the character, Luis Pelato, running through the grass, which appeared to look like the woods, and got a good shoots of him looking frantic and worried while wearing a mental asylum jumpsuit and constantly looking back as he ran to so the audience is able to piece together he was running away from the mental asylum. After this, we got a shot of him running into an abounded house, aka a secluded broken down barn house. We got several shots of him running his fingers through his hair and suffering through a psychotic break. We used Point Of View at one point, and had him hold the camera and made him shake the camera and film all sides of the room, to really emphasize how nervous and frantic the character is. We propped ourselves higher up in order to get some high angles to emphasize the venerability the charter is feeling from not taking his medication. We also got a shot of him throwing his medication on the ground, in order to show the audience that he is no longer taking his medication.

We got a lot various shots and even one extreme close up of the characters face looking extremely worried. We had to retake various scenes numerous times in order to get the perfect lighting, movement, composition, and angle. We are still missing a lot of important shots and plan to film one again on Monday March 27th after school. I didn't realize how difficult it is to film a 2 minute film opening until we actually commented filming. It took us nearly 4 hours just to get a few shots. We made sure to make sure every angle had a purpose because I learned about how important this was from all the visual analysis' we had to write throughout the year.

I'm ready to film once again and on Monday March 27th and ready to overcome any more obstacles that are coming our way!
