Lighting is key

The editing process begins...
First let me give you a run down on the type of shots our film opening contains. I'm not going to mention every single shot but will mention the important ones.

It starts off with a tilt of what's supposed to look like an abandoned house, this is supposed to show where the character is running off to, and strives to end up.

The next scene then begins with a dutch angle, to help portray disorientation and unease that the character is feeling while he runs through the woods after escaping the mental asylum.

After this, you get various shots of the character going through distress, and an extreme close up of him dropping his medication on the ground. This was taken to help portray the reason why the character is suffering through these hallucinations and delusions are because he is no longer on medication.

The very last scene you see the stress in the characters eye's as police sirens are heard in the background, to give the audience the idea that the police went on a manhunt looking for him and found him at the end. We wanted the film opening to end like this to leave the audience at an almost cliffhanger, and get them on their edge of their seats to want to want watch more of the film. Which is the purpose of a film opening to begin with.

While editing through we noticed we had a problem with a lighting, although natural lighting did help give us the best quality, my group and i felt it didn't go very well with the dark theme of the film. We decided to play around with the colors in the iMovie editing application to try and darken the lighting to help convey more of that eerie feeling.

We still have a lot more to edit, including adding the audio of the whispering, and a lot more to fix.

We have a lot of work until we complete this film but i am excited to be finally seeing results!
